Karl Gumbel
Karl Gumbel (born December 10, 1909 in Mainz , † May 21, 1984 in Stegen ) was a German administrative lawyer and state secretary .
Life
After graduating from high school in 1928, Gumbel studied law and political science at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin and the Justus Liebig University in Gießen . In 1931 he passed the first and in 1935 the second state examination in law. Afterwards he was in-house lawyer for the Lingner-Werke in Dresden . During the Second World War he was drafted into the Wehrmacht and fought as a reserve lieutenant in the artillery troops . In 1945 he was wounded and taken prisoner of war .
In 1946, as a Councilor at the Regional Council set Palatinate. In 1947 he moved to the Ministry of the Interior of Rhineland-Palatinate as a senior government councilor . From 1949, he was employed in the Federal Chancellery in Bonn. In 1955, the Ministerialdirigent became head of the personnel department in the Federal Ministry of Defense . In 1959 he became Deputy State Secretary in the Federal Chancellery. After a renewed assignment in the personnel department in the Federal Ministry of Defense, he became State Secretary in 1964. In 1967 he moved to the same position in the Federal Ministry of the Interior . In 1969 he retired. From 1969 to 1972 he was chairman of the supervisory board of Industrieverwaltungsgesellschaft mbH .
Gumbel was married and had six children. Since 1928 he was a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Falkenstein Freiburg.
