Karl Gutkas

Karl Gutkas (born December 16, 1926 in Sauggern , † July 31, 1997 in Lutzmannsburg ) was an Austrian historian .

Life

Gutkas studied history and German at the University of Vienna , where he completed his habilitation in Austrian history in 1965. He was a member of the Institute for Austrian Historical Research and from 1950 to 1991 Director of the Cultural Office of St. Pölten . He was the scientific director of the popular Lower Austrian provincial exhibitions . The focus of his research and numerous publications was the history of Lower Austria , above all the first overall presentation of the history of the state, the history of the state of Lower Austria, which experienced numerous editions.
