Career
Stewart joined the Plymouth Whalers in 2000 when he was seventeen . There the Canadian played for three years in the OHL before he was signed by the NHL team Atlanta Thrashers . Stewart wore the Thrashers 'jersey five times in the 2003/04 season , but mostly he was on the Thrashers' farm team, the Chicago Wolves . The winger also played for the Wolves in the next two years, and in the 2005/06 season he played eight more games for Atlanta.
In August 2006 Stewart was transferred to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for the Ukrainian Vitaly Vishnevsky . Even before he had played a game for the Ducks, the striker moved again within the NHL to the Pittsburgh Penguins in September 2006 . After three games in the jersey of the Penguins, Stewart left the club again and signed with the Chicago Blackhawks . There the left-shooter spent most of the season, he played 37 games and also scored his first goal in the NHL. In February 2007, the attacker changed clubs for a fourth time in the season and joined Tampa Bay Lightning . Karl Stewart appeared for Tampa Bay seven times, and the following season he wore the Lightning jersey nine times. Most of the Canadian was used in the 2007/08 season, however, with the Norfolk Admirals , in the Tampa Bay farm team. In September 2008, the Florida Panthers signed the winger, but he played the entire 2008-09 season with the Rochester Americans , the Panthers' farm team.
In April 2009, Stewart signed a one-year contract with the Straubing Tigers DEL team . After the left shooter was injured in the pre-season, he was late in integrating into the team. Initially, his contract was not renewed, on July 23, 2010 the management of the Tigers announced that Stewart would continue to be engaged. After a two-month trial period, the contract was extended until the end of the season.
He retired in July 2015 and became a scout for the NHL Scouting Bureau .
