Charles of Corbin

Johann Paul Karl von Corbin (born May 27, 1788 in Wesel ; † November 13, 1863 in Xanten ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 3rd Landwehr Brigade.

Life

Karl was the son of Landsrat Jakob von Corbin and his wife Maria Johanna Emilie, née Mauritz.

Military career

Corbin visited the Berlin cadet school and then went on April 4, 1804 Corporal Corporal in the Infantry Regiment "Tauentzien" the Prussian army one. During the Fourth Coalition War , with the surrender of the Magdeburg Fortress , he became a prisoner of war and after the war resigned from the army as a second lieutenant at the instigation of the Bergisches Gouvernement on February 17, 1808 .

He took part with the Bergisch contingent during the Spanish campaign in the siege of Gerona and the battles at St. George, Bollasokit, Bascava, St. Michel, Bagnola, Villa Rance and St. Daniel. The troops returned in 1810 to take part in the Russian campaign in 1812 . There he fought in the battles near Vitebsk and the Berezina . Corbin was from December 22, 1813 to April 19, 1814 in captivity.

After his release he was in command of Bonn , joined Prussian service on April 2, 1815 and was employed as a captain in the 7th Kurmärkische Landwehr Infantry Regiment. On 9 February 1816, first to the 27th Infantry Regiment and the on March 31, 1817 24th Infantry Regiment aggregated , Corbin was in the latter on 30 March 1824 Association einrangiert.
