Karl Freiherr von Neubeck (born May 26, 1821 in Neuburg an der Donau , † January 4, 1894 in Munich ) was a Bavarian major general .

Life

He was the son of the Bavarian Lieutenant Colonel Ludwig von Neubeck.

Military career

After Neubeck had graduated from the Cadet Corps , he was employed in 1840 as a Junker in the 2nd Field Artillery Regiment "Zoller" of the Bavarian Army . Here he rose to first lieutenant until 1848 and in 1854 was transferred to the 1st field artillery regiment "Prince Regent Luitpold" in Munich while being promoted to captain . From 1864 Neubeck worked as a teacher for weapons theory and artillery science at the cadet corps and at the same time at the artillery and genius school . Promoted to major in this position in 1865 , he received the artillery command of the Ingolstadt fortress on April 28, 1866 . In the meantime, Neubeck took part in the war against France in 1870/71 . He was assigned to the siege of Strasbourg on September 17, 1870 and a few days later was given command of the 2nd and 3rd foot batteries of the 3rd Field Artillery Regiment "Queen Mother" . The two batteries formed the VIIIth Division of the Siege Regiment off Strasbourg . After the city surrendered, Neubeck was used in the sieges of Schlettstadt , Neu-Breisach and Belfort . His achievements were recognized by the award of the Knight's Cross 1st Class of the Order of Military Merit with Swords and both classes of the Iron Cross .

After the peace treaty , on April 1, 1872, Neubeck was appointed commander of the 1st Division of the 1st Field Artillery Regiment "Prince Regent Luitpold". Promoted to colonel , he became commander of the newly formed 1st Foot Artillery Regiment in Ingolstadt on January 1, 1873 . He handed this regiment over to his successor, Colonel Franz von Stengel , on November 27, 1876, with a position à la suite , and took over the command of the 2nd Field Artillery Brigade . At his request, he was released from his post on January 5, 1878 and retired from military service. After his departure, Neubeck received the character of major general on February 7, 1891 .

Neubeck was married. The future Bavarian Major General Maximilian von Neubeck (1851-1924) emerged from his marriage .
