Karl Friedrich Christian Wilhelm von Scheliha (born August 12, 1783 in Perschütz , † September 6, 1851 in Kunersdorf, Hirschberg district in the Riesengebirge ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He was the son of Karl Friedrich Wilhelm von Scheliha (1756–1793) and his wife Christiane Henriette, born von Ferentheil (1759–1807). His father was a master at Perschütz and Austen and a district deputy . His brother Ernst (1786-1856) also embarked on a military career in the Prussian Army and made it major general.

Military career

On July 1, 1796, Scheliha joined the fusilier battalion "zu Anhalt-Pless" of the Prussian Army as a private corporal . Here he was promoted to secondary lieutenant until the end of February 1802 and took part in the Battle of Jena during the Fourth Coalition War in 1806 . After the lost battle, his battalion was destroyed by the French on their retreat to Weimar near Umpferstedt . Scheliha then became inactive with half his salary and briefly joined the black crowd of the Duke of Braunschweig in 1809 .

At the beginning of the wars of liberation against Napoleon , Scheliha was re-employed in the army. He came first to the depot battalion of the 2nd Silesian Infantry Regiment and a little later to the III. Battalion. In the Battle of Großgörschen , Scheliha was wounded so badly by a wound in the right arm that he was no longer fit for field service. Awarded the Iron Cross II. Class, Scheliha served as Prime Lieutenant in the 11th Reserve Infantry Regiment and on April 1, 1815, became Adjutant to Major General von Pirch . On May 6, 1815, he was transferred to the Cadet House in Berlin . Here Scheliha acted as captain and company commander from July 20, 1815 and was transferred in the same capacity to the cadet house in Kulm on October 25, 1816 . With his promotion to major , he returned to the Berlin Cadet House on February 18, 1822. On June 1, 1832, Scheliha was entrusted with the management of the cadet institute and finally appointed on July 12, 1837 with an annual salary of 2000 thalers as the commander of this facility. In this position he rose to colonel by the end of March 1840 . On August 16, 1841 Scheliha was awarded the character as a major general with the statutory board for disposition made.

Scheliha had married Ulrike Enger (1795-1870) on May 16, 1817. The following children were born from the marriage:

  • Karl Ulrich (1818–1853), most recently a captain in the 11th Infantry Regiment
