Karsten Dahlem

Karsten Dahlem (* 1975 in Limburg an der Lahn ) is a German actor , director and screenwriter .

Life

Karsten Dahlem broke off training with the police to study law. On the side he worked as a stage technician and thus found interest in working at the theater, especially on the stage, so that he finally began to study acting at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen . Subsequently, Dahlem had permanent engagements at the popular theaters in Vienna and Munich and at the Dresden State Theater . As a guest he played at the Schauspielhaus Bochum and in Berlin at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz and at the Maxim Gorki Theater . At the latter he also took on directing duties, also at the Grillo Theater in Essen , at the theaters in Oberhausen and Bremen , at the Theater der Junge Welt in Leipzig, at the State Theater in Nuremberg , at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf and at stages in Vienna and Linz.

As a director, Dahlem repeatedly adapted novels for the stage, such as Tschick by Wolfgang Herrndorf and Bring Es by Verena Güntner .

Dahlem also stood in front of the camera for about ten years and starred in various films and series. He processed his experiences during his police training in the award-winning film Freier Fall , for which he wrote the screenplay together with director Stephan Lacant . The short film Princess was also created together with Lacant , in which Dahlem made his debut as a television director. The strip was nominated for the Max Ophüls Prize and received numerous awards.

Karsten Dahlem is visiting professor at the University of the Arts in Berlin and the Zurich University of the Arts . He is married and has one son.
