The 2005/06 season was the 14th season of the Kazakh ice hockey professional league . Six clubs took part in the competition. The title of Kazakh Master was secured for the first time by Kasachmys Karaganda . At the same time, the Kazakh Ice Hockey Cup was held for the fourth time , which Karaganda also won and thus made the double perfect.

The six participants played in a quadruple round, so that each team had the number of 20 games. The team with the most points secured the championship in the end.

For a win in the regular playing time of 60 minutes, a team received three points, the defeated opponent received nothing. In the event of a tie, it was the first time ever to go into extra time . If there was no goal and it remained a tie, each team received one point. If there was a hit, the winner received two points, the loser had to be satisfied with one.

At the end of the 20 rounds, Kasachmys Karaganda secured the championship title for the first time with four points ahead of Kaszink-Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk . The Karaganda team won 14 of their 20 games and secured the title for the first time. The serial champion Kaszink-Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk became runner-up for the first time after twelve championship titles. Gornjak Rudny came third, also four points behind .

Kaszink-Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk and Kasachmys Karaganda played in parallel in the second-rate Russian Vysschaja League during the season . The second teams Ust-Kamenogorsks and Karagandas as well as Barys Astana , Gornjak Rudny and HK Irtysh Pavlodar ran in the third-rate Russian Pervaya League . In addition, Kaszink-Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk took part in the IIHF Continental Cup in the 2005/06 season.
