Location and surroundings

The Kaskarspitze is located north of the head of the Samertal in the Gleirsch-Halltal chain . To the south it sends a pronounced ridge that separates the Praxmarerkar in the west from the Kaskar in the east. The neighboring mountain in the west is the eastern Praxmarerkarspitze ( 2638  m above sea level ), to the east is the Sonntagkarspitze ( 2575  m above sea level ). To the north, the Kaskarspitze, with its 600-meter-high, steep rock faces, slopes down to the Grubachreisen above the Hinterau valley , in which the Isar rises.

ways

The Kaskarspitze can be reached in about 3 hours via the normal route from the Pfeishütte ( 1922  m above sea level ). This path leads over the Kaskar to the main ridge and over this in difficulty level II (UIAA) to the summit. The transition to the Praxmarerkarspitze over the ridge has a level of difficulty III.

history

Hermann von Barth managed to climb the mountain for the first time on August 1, 1870, using today's normal route. On the same day he managed to climb the Sonntagkarspitze for the first time. In the previous days he had climbed the Jägerkar peaks and the Praxmarerkar peaks for the first time, the next day he climbed the Hohe Gleirsch and descended to Scharnitz .
