Kaspar von Güntersberg († 1474 ) was master master of the Brandenburg Balley of the Order of St. John on the Sonnenburg from 1471 to 1474 .

Life

Kaspar von Güntersberg was an early member of the noble family of of Güntersberg . In contrast to his predecessor and relative Reimar von Güntersberg , he was a priest and at the time of his appointment as Commander, he was in charge of the Coming Wildenbruch . In 1460, the master master Liborius freed him from manual labor during harvest time. Also as the local commander, he appeared in 1464 as a witness for Duke Otto of Pomerania-Stettin when he gave assurances to his estates. In 1467, when the Bishop of Schwerin recognized the peace treaty concluded between Brandenburg and Pomerania, he appeared again as a witness. 1469 he was present as Frederick II. The monastery Himmelpfort confirmed his rights.

After the death of Master Liborius von Schlieben , he was finally appointed to a new appointment after disputes in the order. His confirmation from Heitersheim , however, took two years to complete. As before his election, it was about power and money, the order did not present itself to posterity in its best light at this time. It is also uncertain whether, although likely, Güntersberg ultimately bowed to the German Grand Prior . For his term of office payments in the amount of 1296 guilders were given to the order from his house.

In 1472 he participated in the transmission of the publication of a papal bull by the Bishop of Lebus to the provosts of Havelberg and Salzwedel . In 1473 he was named in an imperial court order from Augsburg for Elector Albrecht in second place, immediately after the Bishop of Havelberg as Mr. Jasper Gunttersperg Magister sand Johanns Order . In his last year in office, he received a letter of ownership from the Pomeranian Duke Erich II about the Pansin estate , and in the same year he also bought half of the village of Topper for his house from Friedlein von Schlichting . His successor was Richard von der Schulenburg who, like himself, had been commander at Wildenbruch until then.
