Katharina Echter (born July 18, 1982 ) is a German biathlete , who also competes in the cross-country run of the summer biathlon , and a BMX athlete from Grainau .
Echter was a student at the Berchtesgaden Ski School and graduated from high school in 2001 . At that time she was one of the best young athletes in German biathlon. At the European Championships in Kontiolahti in 2002 , Echter won gold in the junior relay together with Barbara Ertl and Jenny Adler . Her most successful year was the 2003/04 season , when she came second in the overall European Cup standings behind Irina Malgina and ahead of Ute Niziak , and won her only European Cup race with the relay in Méribel . In 2004 she became German champion with the Bavarian relay team, which also included Uschi Disl and Martina Glagow . In the 2004/05 season she won the Germany Cup ahead of Hanna Möller and Niziak. She was a participant in the first ever European Summer Biathlon Championships in 2004 , where she was penultimate and last with ninth places in the sprint and pursuit.
Since she started her studies in Augsburg, she has been taking less time in biathlon, but has not officially ended her career, including taking part in the Universiade in Turin in January 2007. In addition to biathlon, Echter operates a number of other sports, for example, she plays soccer at SC Eibsee Grainau, competes in cross-country skiing and rides mountain bikes and BMX in the BMX Bundesliga for the BMX Vereinigung e. V. Bavaria. With the 20 "BMX bike, Echter was fourth in the 2007 German championships. In 2006, she took fourth place in the German cruiser class , and in 2008 she was sixth.
