Kathleen O'Malley (born March 31, 1924 in Worcester , Massachusetts - † February 25, 2019 ) was an American actress , who mostly appeared as a supporting actress in more than 130 films and television series. She was one of the last remaining silent film actors .

Life

Kathleen O'Malley was born in Worchester, Massachusetts in 1924 as the daughter of actor Patrick O'Malley. At the age of two she played her first small role in the silent film My Old Dutch .

In the 1940s and 1950s O'Malley starred in several dozen films, including alongside stars such as Marilyn Monroe , Rita Hayworth , Bette Davis and Gene Kelly . Mostly, however, only in unimportant supporting roles that were often not mentioned in the credits. Among other things, she was seen as a choir girl in The Love of Our Life in 1945 . O'Malley's slightly larger and more significant roles include Dolly in A Goddess on Earth from 1947 and Prudence Perkins in Western West St. Louis from 1950.

In the 1970s, O'Malley played extras and supporting roles in classics such as Dirty Harry and The Last Sniper , John Wayne's last film . In the 1980s and 1990s she was seen in a few films and as a guest actress in several television series before she ended her acting career in 1998.

O'Malley was married to her manager and agent Jim Maloney. Through her role in My Old Dutch , she was one of the last surviving actors of the silent film era at the time of her death. Kathleen O'Malley died on February 25, 2019 at the age of 94.
