Katherine "Katie" Elizabeth McGrath (born January 3, 1983 in Ashford , County Wicklow ) is an Irish actress .

Life

Katie McGrath graduated from Trinity College , Dublin with a degree in history . She wanted to work as a fashion journalist, so she worked for the student magazine Image magazine until she got a job as a cloakroom assistant on the series The Tudors .

While working on The Tudors , she was recommended to give acting a try. She sent photos to Irish agents and got a small role in the fifth episode of the second season of the Tudors . In 2008, she also appeared in the films Eden and Red Mist before getting the role of Morgana in the series Merlin: The New Adventures .

Katie McGrath also appeared on Channel 4 in the five-part film The Queen , which shows the life of Elizabeth II , in the role of the young Princess Margaret. In 2011, she starred alongside Roger Moore in A Princess for Christmas . She also took on the role of Thelma Furness in the British drama WE and starred in The Lost Labyrinth in 2012 . In February 2013, she received a starring role as Lucy Westenra in the NBC television series Dracula alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers .

In 2014 she stood in front of the camera for the film Jurassic World , the fourth part of the Jurassic Park series. She also starred in the films Leading Lady and The Throwaways . In 2015 she shot the first season of the television series Slasher , in which she played the lead role of Sarah Bennett . The first release took place in March 2016 in the USA and in April 2016 in Canada. Since 2016 she has been in front of the camera as a supporting character Lena Luthor in the US CW superhero series Supergirl . That role has been a main character since the third season, which started in 2017.

Other projects include the musical Buttons , which was released in December 2018, and the film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword , which was released in 2017.
