Keira Walsh (born April 8, 1997 in Rochdale , Cumbria ) is an English football player . The player is under contract with Manchester City WFC and has played for the England team since 2017 .
Career
societies
Walsh began her career with the Blackburn Rovers . In 2014 , she moved to new league Manchester City WFC , whose fan she had been since childhood. It had its first mission on July 17, 2014 against Notts County . After a fifth and second place in the league, although she only made six appearances in 2015 due to injury, the Citizens achieved the double of championship and WSL league cup victory in 2016 . In the UEFA Women's Champions League 2016/17 she came in all eight games for use and did not miss a minute. ManCity reached the semi-finals, where after a 3-1 home defeat against defending champion Olympique Lyong, the 1-0 away win was not enough to make it to the final. On the way to the semi-finals, she had scored her first goal ever for the Citizens in the 1-0 win against Brøndby IF in the round of 16, which meant her team went one round.
In the "Spring Series" called short transition season 2017, she was used in the eight games and was only replaced once. This short season ended with the runner-up as well as the following season 2017/18, now adapted to the normal European game calendar. In between, she won the FA Women's Cup on May 13, 2017 by beating Birmingham City 4-1.
In the 2017/18 UEFA Women's Champions League , she never missed a minute in eight games. The Citizens failed again in the semi-finals at Lyon.
In July 2018, she and the team took part in the Women's International Champions Cup , which was played for the first time , where Lyon was again the opponent in the semi-finals. This game was lost with 0: 3. The game for 3rd place could then be won 2-1 against Paris Saint-Germain .
In 2018/19 ManCity came second again, playing in 19 games. On February 20, 2019, she scored her first league goal in a 3-1 win against Everton, the goal of the interim 1-1. In the 2018/19 UEFA Women's Champions League it was only used in two games, due to the fact that it was already in the round of 32, where ManCity lost their home game 2-0 after a 1-1 draw at Atlético Madrid . On February 23 and May 4, 2019, however, a win on penalties against Arsenal won the League Cup and a 3-0 win against West Ham United in front of 43,264 spectators at Wembley Stadium, the FA Women's Cup.
National team
In December 2013, she took part with the U-17 team in the early 2014 U-17 European Women's Football Championship in her home country. It was used in the three group matches and in the third place match against Italy. Since there were no goals in the game, it came to penalties , which were lost 3: 4. But she was able to convert her penalty.
In November 2017, she received her first invitation to the senior national team. She then made her first appearance in the 5-0 win against Kazakhstan in the World Cup qualifier and played over 90 minutes. She was then used in a total of five qualifying games and was allowed to lead the team as captain on the field in the last - again against Kazakhstan. After England had qualified for the World Cup, she played a test match in October, but then had to cancel the November test matches due to a slight injury.
This was followed by further appearances in the SheBelieves Cup 2019 and the April test matches against Canada and Spain . The nomination for the World Cup in France took place on May 8th . At the World Cup, it was used in two group games as well as the eighth, quarter and semi-finals. In the end it was enough for their team to finish fourth.
