Keit Pentus-Rosimannus (born  Keit Pentus ; born March 3, 1976 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian politician.

Life

education

Keit Pentus attended the Tallinn Music High School ( Tallinna Muusikakeskkool ), from which she graduated in piano. She then studied at an Estonian private school until 1995. In 2000, she passed her bachelor's degree in Administrative and European Studies at the Tallinn University of Education (now Tallinn University ). From 2000 to 2004 she studied political science at the University of Tartu , but left the university without a degree.

Political activity

Since the mid-1990s, Pentus has been committed to the liberal reform party ( Reformierakond ). She joined the party in 1998. From 1999 to 2007 Pentus was a member of the city council of the Estonian capital Tallinn . In 2001/2002 she worked in the Ministry of Justice and in 2002/2003 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia. From 2003 to 2005 Pentus was the district mayor of the Tallinn-Kesklinn district ("Tallinn city center").

In 2005, Pentus became the office manager of the newly elected Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip . In the parliamentary elections in 2007 , she was able to win a direct mandate for the reform party in the Riigikogu and moved into parliament as a member of parliament. She was group leader of the Reform Party in parliament during the legislative period. From June 2009 to April 2011 she was the first deputy speaker of parliament.

In April 2011, Keit Pentus succeeded Jaanus Tamkivi (also reform party) as Environment Minister in Prime Minister Ansip's cabinet . She held the same office from March to November 2014 in the new government of Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas . Since November 17, 2014 she has been Foreign Minister of the Republic of Estonia. She succeeded Urmas Paet , who moved to the European Parliament as a member .

On July 1, 2015, Keit Pentus-Rosimannus submitted her resignation to Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas . The day before, a civil court had found her complicity in the bankruptcy of her father's company. Her successor as Foreign Minister was the career diplomat Marina Kaljurand on July 16 . Keit Pentus-Rosimannus returned as a member of the Estonian parliament.

Private

Keit Pentus has been married to the Estonian politician Rain Rosimannus (* 1968) since 2012 . She is the sister of the Estonian racing driver Sten Pentus (* 1981).
