Kenneth Bulmer

Henry Kenneth Bulmer (born January 14, 1921 in London , England , † December 16, 2005 in Tunbridge Wells , Kent ) was a British writer who was best known for science fiction and fantasy novels.

Life

An extraordinarily prolific writer, Bulmer wrote over 160 novels and numerous short stories - both under his own name and under numerous pseudonyms . The best known is Alan Burt Akers , under whom he created the long-lasting fantasy series about the hero Dray Prescot , who experiences his adventures on the planet "Kregen" in the solar system Antares in the constellation Scorpio. In later novels, Prescot himself is named as the author of the stories.

Other pseudonyms used by Bulmer are Frank Brandon, Rupert Clinton, Ernest Corley, Peter Green, Adam Hardy, Philip Kent, Bruno Krauss, Karl Maras, Manning Norvil, Chesman Scot, Nelson Sherwood, Richard Silver, H. Philip Stratford and Tully Zetford. Bulmer published novels under the name "Kenneth Johns", which he created together with John Newman.

Bulmer's novels are not only successful in the original language, but also abroad, especially in Germany. There are even some of his novels that have only been published in German translation.

In 1998 he received the special prize of the British Fantasy Awards .

Bulmer was married to Pamela Buckmaster and had a son and two daughters with her. Bulmer lived in Tunbridge Wells.

Dray Prescot

The novels appeared under the pseudonym Alan Burt Akers. In some later editions, the protagonist Dray Prescot is named as author and Alan Burt Akers as co-author. From volume 38, the volumes were initially published in German translation, the original editions followed years later.
