Kenneth "Kenny" MacAulay (born April 29, 1984 in Baddeck , Nova Scotia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player with Croatian citizenship, who last played until 2015 at HC Innsbruck in the Austrian ice hockey league .

Career

Kenny MacAulay began his career as a hockey player with the Notre Dame Hounds, for which he was active in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in the 2002/03 season . He then attended the University of Findlay for a year , for whose ice hockey team he played in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . He then moved to the University of Vermont , for whose team he competed for three years in the highest division of the NCAA. In the 2007-08 season , the defender made his professional ice hockey debut when he was on the ice for the Rockford IceHogs in the American Hockey League and the Fresno Falcons in the ECHL .

From 2008 to 2010 MacAulay was with the AHL teams of the Portland Pirates , San Antonio Rampage and Norfolk Admirals , as well as with the ECHL teams of the Stockton Thunder and again Fresno Falcons under contract. Towards the end of the 2009/10 season he was obliged by the KHL Medveščak Zagreb from the Austrian ice hockey league , for which he scored four goals in a total of 18 games by the end of the season and gave another five templates. In his first full season in Austria he scored four goals in 59 games in the 2010/11 season and made twelve assists. With Medveščak's second team, he was also Croatian champion in 2011 and 2012 . When the team from the Croatian capital moved to the Continental Hockey League in the summer of 2013 , he was unable to assert himself in the new squad and was not used. In December 2013 he therefore switched to the Slovenian ÖEHL club HDD Olimpija Ljubljana on loan , with whom he also took part in the play-offs for the Slovenian championship and won the title by winning the final against the Jesenice team . After moving to Ritten Sport in the Italian Serie A in the summer of 2014 , he moved to HC Innsbruck in the ÖEHL in December 2014 , where he ended the season.

International

Born in Canada, MacAulay made his debut for the Croatian national ice hockey team in Division II at the 2012 World Cup and was named the best defender of the Group A tournament. A year later he was promoted to Division I with the Croatians at the home tournament in Zagreb, in which he then participated in 2014 , 2015 and 2016 . He also took part in qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi for his new home country .
