Kersten Angela Artus (born April 1, 1964 in Bremen , born Kersten Angela Westphal ) is a German journalist . From 2008 to 2015 she was a member of the Hamburg citizenship for the party Die Linke . She has been the honorary chairwoman of pro familia Hamburg since November 2017

Life

Kersten Artus grew up in Bremen-Oberneuland. Her parents ran a retail business. In 1982 she moved to Hamburg. She completed an apprenticeship as a publishing clerk and then worked as a press documentary. In 1998 she volunteered and worked as an editor for the magazine “ Fernsehwoche” . In 2015 she left the Bauer Media Group and has been working as a freelance journalist, public relations worker and event host ever since. She has been married to Holger Artus since 1986. She has two grown children.

She has been involved in various works councils of the Bauer Media Group since 1983 , of which she has been chairwoman since 1994. She has been chairwoman of the group works council since October 2004 and founded the European works council in 2007. A few years ago, the company initiated a termination without notice, especially after criticizing the company's outsourcing in a DJV contribution . With the accusation of having incorrectly registered or de-registered for works council work, a procedure for termination without notice was established in October 2010. The works council did not agree to the termination, ver.di and DJV demanded that the termination be withdrawn. In May 2011, the termination was withdrawn by the employer. She has been with Cornelia Möhring since 2017 and works part-time as a funeral orator .

She made her first political experiences in the late 1970s in the Bremen student movement and in the peace movement in the early 1980s. She joined the SDAJ and was a member of the DKP from 1983 to 1989 . In the mid-1990s she was a member of the PDS for two years . Since 1983 she is a union member, until the union pressure and paper , then in the successor organizations IG Medien and ver.di . She joined the WASG in 2005 and became a member of the Left in 2007. It belongs to the inner-party tendency Socialist Left .

In the 2008 election, Kersten Artus was elected as a member of the Hamburg Parliament via the state list. She belonged to the eight-person faction of the Left , which was represented in the citizenry for the first time. During the 19th and 20th electoral terms, she was the specialist spokesperson for women's, trade union, care, media and health policy for her parliamentary group .

In the 2011 mayor elections , she moved again via the state list ( Die Linke-Listplatz 5 ) into parliament and was elected Vice-President of the Citizenship. She also became a member of the petitions committee and the hardship committee appointed by the Senate.

In 2012 she published a brochure about the KPD politician Magda Langhans-Kelm on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of her death. This was the first woman in a presidium of the Hamburg citizenship.

At a party conference of the left before the 2015 general election , Arthur lost to Heike Sudmann in a vote for fifth place on the state list . Since she was not able to win a direct mandate in the constituency of Rotherbaum-Harvestehude-Eimsbüttel-Ost , Artus left the citizenship at the end of the 20th electoral term in March 2015.

Others

Her statements in the so-called " Pixi Affair" on discrimination, sexism and racism in a textbook for elementary school students received nationwide attention . The publisher brought a modified version onto the market.

In the second half of 2018, the anti- abortion opponent Yannic Hendricks , who appeared under the pseudonym “Markus Krause”, sued Artus for publishing his real name on a blog and on Facebook. The proceedings were suspended by the Hamburg Regional Court in February 2019 after Hendricks added a tweet from Artus to the complaint . In April 2019, the Hamburg Regional Court dismissed the injunction; the decision was initially not final. Arthur ultimately won the process.

In November 2019, she filed a criminal complaint against the website Wikimannia, as it shows a photo taken of her without permission and payment of a fee.
