Kim Kyung-ae (born March 5, 1988 ) is a South Korean javelin thrower .

Athletic career

Kim Kyung-ae gained her first international experience at the 2005 World Youth Championships in Marakesch , where she finished eighth in the final with 46.66 m. The following year she was at the Junior World Championships in Beijing with 51.73 m ninth. In 2007 she won the silver medal behind the Thai Buoban Pamang at the Asian Championships in Amman with 53.01 m . Then she took part in the Summer Universiade in Bangkok and reached ninth place with a litter of 52.79 m. In 2008 she qualified for the Olympic Games in Beijing, where she was eliminated with 53.13 m in the first round . In 2009 she again took part in the World Student Games in Belgrade , where she again finished ninth with 54.90 m. At the end of November she won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Guangzhou with 53.84 m.

In 2010 she took part in the Asian Games for the first time there and came fourth with a throw of 56.84 m. At the Asian Championships in Kobe she was sixth with 49.96 m and then retired at the World Championships in Daegu with 54.96 m in qualification. Three years later, she finished sixth at the 2018 Asian Games in Incheon with 56.07 m. In 2015 she was seventh at the Asian Championships in Wuhan with 48.74 m, as well as two years later at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar, India, with 53.68 m. At her third Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018 , she won the bronze medal behind the two Chinese Liu Shiying and Lü Huihui with 56.74 m . The following year she took sixth place with a throw of 54.73 m.

In 2007, 2009 and 2010, 2012 and 2013, 2015 and 2016 as well as 2018, Kim became the South Korean champion in javelin throw. She graduated from Korea National Sport University .
