description

A Romanesque church was mentioned as early as 1252 in a register of the pastor's income . The choir tower is still preserved from her today . This church was changed in the late Gothic style in 1490. The large bronze bell from 1515 is still intact. Today's plastered with quoins provided hall church with extruded, cross rectangular choir tower and east followed, rectangular chancel was built in 1649, the nave in 1680. The choir tower was given in the 18th century a cross posed slated hipped roof with a roof turret . On its north side is the former sacristy , which is covered with a groin vault. An extension was subsequently built in the west . The portal was moved there from the south side in 1887. It stands between fluted columns with a winding shaft and cube-shaped capitals made of porphyry decorated with palmettes . The original location of the portal is unknown. In architectural style and ornaments , it corresponds to the west portal of the parish church in nearby Langenleuba-Oberhain , which was destroyed in the 19th century . Both church portals were probably built at the end of the 12th century under the influence of the building works of the monasteries of Wechselburg and Petersberg .

The sundial , the wooden pulpit on the north side of the triumphal arch and the three-sided galleries on cast-iron columns in the nave are from the 2nd half of the 17th century.

An organ was built by Tobias Heinrich Gottfried Trost in 1763–1764 . This was destroyed by lightning in 1819. A new organ was built in 1886 by the organ builder Poppe while retaining some registers and extensively restored from 2002 to 2004. In 1990 the lead glass windows were renewed. In 1993, the restoration work on the exterior facade was completed. The interior was then restored according to the church design from 1886/1887.
