Church Müllrose

The Müllrose Church is a Protestant church in the town of Müllrose in the Oder-Spree district in Brandenburg.

Buildings and history

The church from 1747 is designed as a rectangular plastered building with a tent roof . Baroque and classical style elements meet in this church, as parts of the previous church were included in the construction. There is a small extension to the east.

The three-story tower faces west and is 35 meters high. The pointed helmet with slate shingles was put on in 1875, the point consists of a ball, weather vane and a star. The weather vane bears the years 1746 and 2001. These numbers are intended to remind of the years when the church was renovated. The tower itself has sound openings directed on all sides to allow the sound of the three bells to sound far. There is a bronze bell from 1751 by the bell founder Jonas Paulus Zweinger from Berlin. The other two bells from 1959 are made of steel.

In 1905 the church was damaged by a lightning strike, and during World War II the church tower was hit by a shell, which caused the church clock to stop.

Between 2003 and 2006, the Müllrose church was completely renovated.

Interior

The pulpit altar dates from around 1770. The cross and candlesticks date from the second half of the 18th century, the wrought iron candlesticks on the sides were made in the second half of the 19th century. From 1981 to 1983 the marbling of the parapet fields and the supporting Tuscan columns was renewed.

On the side of the altar are the portraits of St. Jacob and St. Andrew in carved frames. These paintings were donated in 1885 by the mill owner and church mayor Oskar Schmidt. They were extensively restored by the beginning of 2002. In front of the altar is an octagonal wooden baptism from around 1746. The galleries run around the north, south and west walls.

On the west gallery is located on a Rococo - Prospekt the donated organ from 1772. It was probably from the organ builder Gottlieb Scholtze from Ruppin installed. During the First World War, the organ pipes were removed for metal extraction , so the organ was completely redesigned in 1929 by the organ builder Gustav Heinze , Sorau , and the new pipes gave it a romantic sound. It has two manuals , a pedal and 25 stops . The renovation from 1992 was carried out by Orgelbau Sauer . After another restoration in 2003 and 2004 by the Sauer company, the organ was consecrated again on the second Advent in 2004.

On the walls of the church there are memorial plaques for those who died in the community and a painting by Johann Gottfried Felbinger, the founder of the organ. Known as a Portrait with Moors . The painting was restored in 1910 by a restorer from Jüterbog , and in 1947 by a master painter from Müllros. In 2005 the picture was completely renovated by the restorers Martina Dürrschmidt and Falk Petermann from Großräschen .

About the history of the organ foundation: Johann Gottlieb Felbinger fled Müllrose as a young man to avoid being recruited . He was interested in surgery , he was able to learn this profession abroad and so he traveled by ship to Dutch Guyana as a surgeon and made some fortune there. As a criminal judge he was ambassador for the Prussian royal house in Paramaribo . When he died at the age of 72, he left 2,000 Dutch guilders from his property , which were to be donated for the organ in Müllrose's church. Out of gratitude, the garbage roses hung up a painting depicting the founder of the organ and his servant, a Moor .
