from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Evangelical Church District Halle is one of 27 church districts within the Evangelical Church of Westphalia and extends over the northern part of the Gütersloh district . The official seat is the city of Gütersloh , which itself belongs to the parish of Gütersloh . A total of 52,195 Protestant parishioners in eight parishes belong to the church district.

history

The ecclesiastical province of Westphalia was founded in 1815. In the course of time the organization of the province was brought into order. To this end, the 1st Westphalian Provincial Synod met in Soest in October 1835. At the 2nd Synod in September 1838 it was decided to split up the Bielefeld parish and to re-establish the Halle parish. In addition to the eight communities in the district of Halle (Westphalia) , there were the communities of Spenge and Wallenbrück from the Herford district . The first district synod took place on October 8, 1840 and Pastor Ulrich Hedinger from Borgholzhausen was elected the first superintendent. When the church was founded, it had 37,500 parishioners.

In the middle of 1963 the parishes of Spenge, Hücker-Aschen and Wallenbrück left the parish of Halle and joined the parish of Herford . To administer the church district, the district church office in Halle was opened on the first of Advent in 1975. In November 2001 it was decided at the regional synod to create scope for design. The Halle church district joined Design Room 7 , which also includes the Bielefeld, Gütersloh and Paderborn church districts .

In 2002 the administration of the church district was moved to Gütersloh. The church districts of Halle and Gütersloh are jointly administered there. However, both are still independent.
