Klöpfer & Meyer Verlag

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Klöpfer & Meyer GmbH & Co. KG is a German literary publisher based in Tübingen .

history

The publishing house was founded in December 1991 by Hubert Klöpfer , Klaus Meyer and Compagnons as a publishing house for fiction , non-fiction and essay writing in Tübingen . After Klaus Meyer's departure as co-publisher, Klöpfer & Meyer became a subsidiary of DVA in Munich in July 2000 . Hubert Klöpfer brought his small publishing house back to Tübingen as an independent Baden-Wuerttemberg publisher in January 2003, before the FAZ was about to sell DVA to the industry giant Bertelsmann  / Random House . From summer 2006 the publishing house operated as a GmbH & Co. KG with Hubert Klöpfer as managing partner.

The search for a successor for Hubert Klöpfer turned out to be difficult in 2018 due to structural problems in the book industry. The two cultural scientists Hermann Bausinger and Thomas Knubben then initiated the "Tübingen Memorandum: Against the Dying of Publishers, for Diversity of Literature and Book Culture" in September 2018, which was signed by more than 100 Klöpfer & Meyer authors. The Klöpfer & Meyer publishing house will be dissolved in 2019.

Hubert Klöpfer is continuing his publishing work in a new foundation: The science publishing family Sonja and Gunter Narr as well as their son Robert founded Klöpfer, Narr GmbH , based in Tübingen , together with Hubert Klöpfer on April 1, 2019 . The publishers are the managing directors Gunter Narr and Hubert Klöpfer.
