Klaus-Peter Gäbelein (born July 1, 1943 in Lübben (Spreewald) ; pseudonym: Klaus Bedä ) is a German author , historian , columnist , dialect poet and presenter with a focus on Franconian history and customs as well as Franconian dialect . He is the author of numerous works on topics relating to the regional history of Franconia, Franconian customs and school books. Since 1981 Gäbelein has been writing articles for the regional sections of the in Herzogenaurach ( Middle Franconia) appearing daily newspapers and since 1992 the gloss "Do dud dä fei deä Oäsch weh!"

Life

Klaus-Peter Gäbelein was born in Lübben in the Spreewald as the son of a Sorbian woman from the Spree Forest and a woman from Upper Franconia .

In April 1945, the mother and her son fled from the Red Army to Forchheim in Upper Franconia , his father's home, where he grew up and attended school. After graduating from high school in Forchheim, he studied German , history and sociology at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg from 1964 to 1967 . From 1967 to 1969 he completed his legal clerkship for teaching at secondary schools in Munich Parsing, in Coburg and in Hof . After completing the second state examination in 1969, he was accepted into the civil service as a secondary school teacher at the local secondary school in Hof, where he also acted as a seminar teacher for history from 1971. Gäbelein gained his first experience as a presenter here as a stadium announcer for the then second division club FC Bayern Hof . In the spring of 1975, he finally moved with his family to Herzogenaurach in Middle Franconia , where he took up the position of 2nd vice principal at the Herzogenaurach secondary school on February 4, 1975. In 1981 he was promoted to 1st vice principal and in the 2006/07 school year, Gäbelein took over the management of the Herzogenaurach secondary school until his retirement in 2008. Despite his retirement, Klaus-Peter Gäbelein is still active and leads city tours through his current place of residence Herzogenaurach.

Since 1981, Gäbelein was the first chairman of the Herzogenaurach Heimatverein, but he did not stand for re-election in 2020 after 38 years. His successor was Herbert Dummer. Gäbelein is a member of the extended federal management of the Franconian Federation - Association for Franconian regional studies and cultural maintenance e. V. Since the 1980s, Gäbelein has often appeared as a moderator for radio and television programs, mostly with Franconian topics. Gäbelein's “Franconian Derblecken” received nationwide media coverage during the 2008 mayoral election in Herzogenaurach.

Since 1992 Gäbelein writes under the pseudonym "Klaus Bedae" in Franconian dialect held column "Herzogenauracher stories: Do dud dä fei DEAE Oäsch hurt! - Asking a thoughtful franc, freely based on B. Brecht ”. The column appeared for the first time on October 17, 1992 in the regional section (Edition C for Herzogenaurach) of the daily Fränkischer Tag . In 1999 a collection of 31 glosses published between 1992 and 1997 was published in an illustrated special volume by the publisher Fränkischer Tag Bamberg. Over 280 of these glosses had appeared by 2019 .

Furthermore, Klaus-Peter Gäbelein is responsible for the reference work "Herzogenauracher Stadtschreiber", which the Heimatverein Herzogenaurach eV published in April 2019 in the 11th edition.

Klaus-Peter Gäbelein lives in Herzogenaurach, is married and has two children.
