Kleanthis Karamichas ( Greek Κλεάνθης Καραμίχας ; born April 25, 1988 in Ioannina ) is a Greek biathlete and cross-country skier . He lives in Metsovo, trains in Anilio Metsovo and starts for EOS Metsovou , where the student is trained by Timoleon Tsourekas.

Career

He started biathlon in 2003 and has been a member of the national squad of Greece since 2005, and has been participating in international races since 2005. In cross-country skiing, he initially took part in several lower-class FIS races, and since 2008 in races of the Balkan Cup and the Rollerski World Cup . In the overall ranking of the Rollerski World Cup 2010 he finished 48th. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme he reached the 125th place over 15 km freestyle and the 117th place in the sprint. In February 2014 he became the Greek sprint champion. He made his first appearance in the cross-country skiing world cup in February 2015 in Östersund . There he finished 90th over 15 km freestyle. In the same month he achieved the 28th place in the team sprint together with Apostolos Angelis at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun .

In biathlon, Karamichas competed in his first race as part of the Junior European Cup. In the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2007 in Martell the Greeks occupied the seats 76 in singles and 85 in Sprint, 2009 in Canmore , he was both Sprint as well as 68th in the individual between, he participated in the junior race on roller skis of the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2008 in Haute -Maurienne took part and finished 44th in the sprint and 41st in the pursuit.

Karamichas made his men's debut in 2006 in a European Cup sprint, the later IBU Cup in Obertilliach , where he was 109th. Only a little later, he was 81st in Cesana San Sicario in a single race for the first time in the top 100. In 2009 , when he finished ninth in a sprint in Bansko, he not only reached the points for the first time, but also placed in the top ten. His first international championships were the 2007 European biathlon championships in Bansko. Karamichas finished 60th in the individual and 67th in the sprint. In Östersund he made his debut in the biathlon world cup in 2009 and finished 130th in the individual race. At the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2011 in Nové Město na Moravě came 52nd in the sprint. In the pursuit race Karamichas was lapped and could not finish the competition. With Panagiota Tsakiri , Christina Kiourkenidou and Ioannis Nimpitis , he was also ninth in the relay race as lapped relay. At the Biathlon World Championships 2012 in Ruhpolding , he came in 125th place in the individual. The following year he won 135th place in sprint and 127th place in individual at the Biathlon World Championships in Nove Mesto . In March 2015 he reached the 124th place in the individual and the 117th place in the sprint at the Biathlon World Championships in Kontiolahti .

Cross-country skiing

In January 2005 Karamichas started for the first time in FIS races in Pigadia. At the Greek Championships in Metsovo in 2008 he was 23rd in the sprint. In summer 2008 he also started in the Rollerski Junior World Cup for the first time. A year later he made his debut in the Rollerski World Cup in Naoussa . With 13th place in the uphill he immediately collected his first World Cup points. A year later he was in the top ten for the first time in Thessaloniki . On February 4, 2011, he made his debut in the Cross-Country Balkan Cup . On his home track in Metsovo he then impressed with three top 10 placements. In February 2012 he also started for the first time in races in the Balkan Cup outside of Greece and also ran in Cheile Grădiştei in the top 10. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme , Karamichas started in the sprint and over 15 km, but did not come among the best 100 runners to the finish. In December 2013 he started in the Alpine Cup for the first time , but did not get past 76th in Ortisei. In February 2014 he became Greek Sprint Champion. He crossed the finish line in fifth place over 10 km. A year later he won silver in the same place in the sprint. Shortly before, on 15 February 2015, it is announced in the Swedish Ostersund his debut in the FIS Cross-Country World Cup . As 90th he was without points, but started a week later at the World Championships in Falun in the team sprint with Apostolos Angelis . After being eliminated in the semi-finals, the duo came in last in the end. In the summer of 2015 Karamichas succeeded again in placing in the Rollerski World Cup and finished 74th in the overall ranking. In January 2016 he came to Nové Město na Moravě for another World Cup appearance, but with 83rd place again fell far short of expectations. A year later he started at the 2017 World Championships in Lahti . In the sprint he finished in 125th place after failing in qualification. Three weeks later he won silver again at the national championships in Pigadia.
