Klein Windhoek is a district of the Namibian capital Windhoek and was an independent city at the beginning of the 20th century.
Klein Windhoek is located in the constituency of Windhoek-Ost on the eastern edge of the city and borders the districts of Central and Luxushügel in the west, Eros in the north, Ludwigsdorf in the east and Avis in the southeast.
The area is mainly used as a residential area, which is particularly popular among whites, which is why the highest property prices in Namibia can be found here.
history
The district is the place of the first settlement by the German protection force on the edge of the sources ǀAi-ǁGams . The founder of Klein Windhoek is considered to be John Ludwig, who opened his restaurant "Ludwigslust" here around 1892 . Numerous settlers followed him.
The mausoleum of the founder John Ludwig in the Ludwigsdorf district is still worth seeing today .
