Klein Stein , in Polish Kamionek , is a village in Upper Silesia . Klein Stein is located in the municipality of Gogolin in the powiat Krapkowicki in the Polish Opole Voivodeship .

Geographical location

Klein Stein is located six kilometers northeast of the Gogolin municipality , ten kilometers northeast of the district town of Krapkowice (Krappitz) and 19 kilometers southeast of the voivodeship capital Opole .

To the northeast of Klein Stein is the Opole-Kamień Śląski (Gross Stein) airfield .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1531 as “Mini Kamyonek”. In 1571 it was mentioned as “Kamenekh”.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 64 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 306 for Poland. Klein Stein remained with the German Empire . 1933 lived in the place 734 inhabitants. The chapel was built in 1938. In 1939 the place had 795 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Groß Strehlitz .

During the Second World War, the Klein Stein camp (concentration camp for mixed Jewish people) of the Todt Organization was located here .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration, was renamed Kamionek and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship , 1999 to the powiat Krapkowicki . From 2004 to 2005 the chapel was rebuilt from 1938. On April 30, 2010, the place was also given the official German place name Klein Stein .
