Location of Kleinrudestedt in Thuringia

Kleinrudestedt is a village that has been incorporated into Großrudestedt, only one kilometer away, in the Sömmerda district . It is located in the Thuringian Basin on the northeastern edge of the Schwansee Forest . The small river Gramme runs between Klein- and Großrudestedt .

history

Kleinrudestedt was called "Wenigen-Rudestedt" in the Middle Ages . This indicates that it was a side village of Großrudestedt with settled Wends . The current village complex, however, does not show any Slavic influence. The Georgenthal Monastery , the White Women Monastery in Erfurt , the Marienstift Erfurt and the Great Hospital Erfurt owned Kleinrudestedt in the 13th and 14th centuries. After the beginning of the Reformation in the 16th century, visitations took place in Kleinrudestedt, as everywhere in the Electoral Saxon villages, to strengthen the church order . From 1582 to 1586 the plague also claimed its victims in Kleinrudestedt . In the Thirty Years' War in 1636 the parish and school buildings were burned down, as was the interior of the nave . In 1642 the village was completely depopulated and no houses were inhabited. The still living inhabitants had fled to fortified places, especially to Erfurt, but also to the Bachstedt Vorwerk . The fields were deserted. From 1681 to 1683 the villages neighboring Erfurt were temporarily cordoned off because of the bubonic plague that had broken out there.

Kleinrudestedt belonged with Schwansee , Großrudestedt and Großmölsen to the "Vogtei Schwansee", which was part of the Großrudestedt office from 1664 . Since 1672 the place belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Eisenach and from 1741 to Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach . Like other places in the region, Kleinrudestedt had to do compulsory services to the ducal estate of Bachstedt and to open its fields to its sheep for grazing (Triftrecht), which was perceived as a "land nuisance". In addition, there were forced labor for the hunting lodge in Schwansee and the office in Großrudestedt. In the revolutionary year of 1848 “people's assemblies” took place near Kleinrudestedt at the Schwanseer Forst. The place was seen as a source of unrest in the entire district. Democratic associations were founded and the “people's arming” was carried out. Then the Grand Duke put cuirassiers in the office of Großrudestedt.

Village church

As a wealthy village, Kleinrudestedt bought a church built by the court architect Coudray in 1840 , in which the Gustav-Adolf-Verein of the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach was founded in 1845 . During the GDR era, the church was dilapidated in the 1980s due to moisture damage and a leaky roof, was blocked by the building authorities and finally demolished except for the seemingly stable church tower . This received an emergency roof.

Memorabilia from the demolished Kleinrudestedt church are now in the church of Großrudestedt : the baptismal font, the memorial plaques for those who fell in both world wars, the last pews and the motor of the (rotten) organ.

The community is planning to rebuild a nave as a community center. In 2019 the bell tower has to be dismantled due to the extreme risk of collapse after lifting the hood. "The dry rot did a great job". The church tower is then to be rebuilt as Coudray had created it.

The rectory is to be sold.
