The Klentnický potok is a right tributary of the Thaya / Dyje in the Czech Republic .

course

The Klentnický potok rises at the eastern foot of the Stolová hora ( Table Mountain , 459 m nm) in the Mikulovská vrchovina . The source is located on the southern outskirts of Klentnice ( Klentnitz ) on the pond site of the former Klentnitz village pond in the Nikolsburg artesian headwaters ( Mikulov-gravitace ).

Its middle course runs in a north-easterly direction through the bottom Mokrý žleb; vineyards rise here on the left, and the Klentnice game reserve in the Milovický les forest on the right. The stream then flows through the vineyards between Pavlov ( Pollau ) and Milovice ( Millowitz ) into the Dolnomoravský úval ( southern March basin ).

On its lower reaches the Klentnický potok flows regulated through the fields at the Nové Mlýny reservoir ; before the damming of the Thaya, its water was then lost in the swampy meadows by the river. Today, the stream behind the southern dam of the lower reservoir is routed as a bypass ditch to the southwest. Across from Nové Mlýny , the Klentnický potok flows into the Thaya below the Nové Mlýny hydroelectric power station. The average flow at the mouth is 0.006 m³ / s.

The Klentnický potok, together with the Mušlovský potok, forms the natural boundary between the Milovická pahorkatina ( Milowitz Hills ) and the Pavlovské vrchy ( Pollau Mountains ). The upper and middle streams lie within the Pálava Protected Landscape Area . The Klentnický potok tends to dry out, most of the year there is no continuous water level. The bank vegetation has been preserved along the creek bed.
