description

The cluster-fruited barberry, a deciduous (deciduous) shrub , can reach a height of up to 2 meters. The twigs are brown in color and finely hairy, the thorns in three parts, up to 2 centimeters long. The leaves are olive-green on the top and bluish on the underside and are obovate, wedge-shaped at the base, spiky toothed and up to 3 centimeters long. Their autumn color ranges from yellow to red.

The small, light yellow flowers appear in late spring in almost spherical axillary panicles. The numerous spherical berries change color from yellowish-white to vermilion and are frosted with gray.
