Kohgiluye and Boyer Ahmad ( Persian کهگیلویه و بویراحمد Kohgīlūya va Boir-Aḥmad ) is one of the 31 provinces in Iran . The capital is Yasudj .

713,052 people live in the province (2016 census). The province covers an area of ​​15,504 square kilometers. The population density is 46 inhabitants per square kilometer.

geography

The province is located in the south-western part of the country. It is very mountainous and is part of the Zagros Mountains. The highest point is the Dena with 4409 meters.

history

Until June 23, 1963, part of this province belonged to Fars and the other part to Khuzestan .
