North Khorasan ( Persian خراسان شمالی) is a province in northeastern Iran on the border with Turkmenistan . The capital is Bodschnurd .

863,092 people live in the province (2016 census). The area of ​​the province extends to 28,434 square kilometers. The population density is 30 inhabitants per square kilometer.

The population consists of 46% Kurds , 28% Persians , 21% Khorasan Turks, 3% Turkmen and 2% from other population groups.
