The 1972 season was the first season of the Korać Cup held by FIBA Europe .
The title was won by KK Lokomotiva Zagreb from Yugoslavia .

Eight teams from five nations took part. Because of the small number of participants, the competition started with a quarter-finals. The winners qualified for the semi-finals, followed by the final. The winners of the pairings were determined in the first and second leg. The overall result of both games was decisive.
