The Krachtsportgebouw ( German strength sports building ) was a sports hall in the Dutch capital Amsterdam .
history
The building was constructed by the architect Jan Wils . During the 1928 Summer Olympics , the competitions in boxing , wrestling , fencing , weightlifting and fencing in the modern pentathlon were held in the Krachtsportgebouw . During the games, the sports facility had 2,840 seats and 1,794 standing places. There were also showers, 15 changing rooms and an administrative office at that time.
In the meantime there is a café in the building next to the Olympic Stadium , which is named after the architect.
