Kurt countryman

Kurt Landsmann (born January 17, 1931 in Vienna ; † September 8, 2019 in Vienna) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Compatriot was from 1976 to 1980 local councilor and member of the Viennese state parliament and from 1980 to 1994 district chairman of Floridsdorf .

Life

Kurt Landsmann spent his childhood in Jedlersdorf and became a toolmaker at Hofherr-Schrantz . From 1954, Landsmann worked in customer service at Wiener Stadtwerke-Gaswerke , and later at the Vienna Regional Health Insurance Fund .

From 1969 to 1980 compatriot was district secretary of the SPÖ in Floridsdorf. From 1969 to 1976 he was district councilor in Floridsdorf, from 1976 to 1980 district council of the City of Vienna and from 1980, as the successor to Otmar Emerling, district chairman of Floridsdorf, where the Danube Island and the Marchfeld Canal were created as local recreation areas with a district development plan . New residential areas on the Brünner Strasse and Prager Strasse settlement axes were established and residual agricultural areas between Strebersdorf, Stammersdorf and Großjedlersdorf secured. During his time as district chairman, the business center of the University of Vienna and the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna were established . In 1994 Floridsdorf was connected to the U-Bahn line 6, and Heinz Lehner succeeded him as district chairman that year .

For Floridsdorf, Landsmann started a district partnership with the district of Katsushika in Tokyo , founded the first district cultural association in Vienna with FORUM 21 and was particularly active culturally for the Wienerlied .
