Kvissel train station |
Kvissel is a place in northern Denmark with 395 inhabitants, about ten kilometers west of Frederikshavn (as of January 1, 2020).
The name Kvissel comes from Old Danish and means union , because the rivers Skærum Å and Åsted Å unite about 200 meters east of the town center to form Elling Å .
1683 included the place twelve farms and five other houses. With the construction of the Frederikshavn - Aalborg railway line in 1877, Kvissel received a train station and grew rapidly from then on. In 1900 the place got an elementary school. In 1919 the Kvissel Kirke was built, a church whose architectural style is similar to the medieval churches in the neighboring towns of Elling and Skærum .
Today Kvissel is a suburb of Frederikshavn , the center can be reached in a few minutes by regional trains from Kvissel.
