Strandby Harbor

Strandby is a fishing town with a population of 2297 (as of January 1, 2020) in northern Denmark . Strandby is located on the Baltic Sea in the parish of Elling ( Elling Sogn ), which until 1970 belonged to Harde Horns Herred in what was then Hjørring Amt . With the dissolution of the Harden structure, the parish was included in the municipality of Frederikshavn in the newly established North Jutland Office , the municipality in turn merged with other municipalities in the enlarged municipality of Frederikshavn , which belongs to the region of North Jutland , with the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 .

Strandby is about six kilometers north of Frederikshavn and about seven kilometers southeast of Jerup .

The place has been known since 1466 and was known as “Strand Bye” until the 19th century. Most of the inhabitants until the middle of the 20th century were farmers and fishermen.

The place got a school in 1945 and in 1966, Strandby Kirke, its own church. In addition, Strandby has the largest Methodist church in Denmark.
