Kyōkai Senjō no Horizon ( Japanese 境界 線上 の ホ ラ イ ゾ ン , Kyōkai Senjō no Horaizon , eng . "Horizon on the borderline", subtitled as "Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere") is the title of a light novel series by the Japanese Author Minoru Kawakami and illustrated by the artist Satoyasu .
The series of novels published since September 2008 in Dengeki Bunko Magazine , published by Imprint Dengeki Bunko , takes place in a distant future in which humanity tried to leave the exploited earth. However, due to an unknown phenomenon, they were unable to travel the universe and eventually had to give up and return to Earth. To their astonishment, however, only Japan is the only area that is still habitable and is soon fought over accordingly.
In 2011, the novel was adapted by the animation studio Sunrise under the direction of Manabu Ono as an anime television series of the same name , which also included a manga series drawn by Hideo Takenaka . Both adaptations are based on the course of action given in the novel by Minoru Kawakami.
action
In a distant future, humanity left the exploited earth to look for new living space within the vastness of the universe. However, due to an inexplicable phenomenon, they are unable to move further in space and they are forced to return to earth. Of these, however, only Japan is habitable after their return, which cannot accommodate the entire population that still exists. In order to still offer enough space, a second dimension, a copy of Japan, is created with the help of advanced technology, which is referred to as Jūsō Sekai ( 重奏 „," instrumental ensemble world "). Real Japan, meanwhile, remained largely under the control of the Shinshū ( 神州 , English: "divine land"), the 'indigenous people of Japan'.
In the following time the gaze was directed again to the stars and people began to orientate themselves to a new way of life, as it is recorded in the testament ( 聖 譜 , Seifu ). This type of religion challenges mankind to relive the phases of human history and gain the knowledge necessary to overcome the barrier that holds them captive on earth.
According to the chronology described in the will, the will Era, however, there was a momentous incident in 1413. The northern and southern factions of the Shinshū get into a conflict that is ultimately also fought militarily. In doing so, the system for maintaining the parallel world is damaged, which causes both worlds to collide with each other and a large part of the world into chaos. The Jūsō Sekai blames the real world for this, which breaks out another war that the Jūsō Sekai can win for themselves. As a result, the states of the Jūsō Sekai occupy real Japan and divide the territory into feudal fiefs , whose ruling dynasty is borrowed from a historical one, including:
- Kyokutō ( 極 東 , literally: " Far East "; Japan ) in Tōkai / Kantō with the sex of the Matsudaira ,
- PAOda ( Middle East ) in Kinki to Tōkai with the Oda ,
- Hexagone Française ( 六 護 式 仏 蘭西 , Eguzagon Furansēzu ; France ) in Chūgoku with the Mōri ,
- Shinsei Rōma Teikoku / MHRR ( 神聖 ロ ー マ 帝国 , Holy Roman Empire ) in Kinki with the Hashiba ,
- England (英国 , Ingurando ) in Tsushima ,
- KPAItalia ( Italy ) around the Seto Inland Sea with the Aki,
- Tres España ( 三 征 西班牙 , Toresu Esupania ; Spain ) in Shimonoseki with the Ōuchi / Ōtomo ,
- Sviet Rus ( 上 越 露西 亜 , Suviēto Rūshi , written literally: " Jōetsu - Russia ") in Hokuriku with the Uesugi ,
- Qing -Takeda (清 武田 , Shin-Takeda ; China ) in Kantō with the Takeda ,
- Africa Shokoku ( ア フ リ カ 諸国 , Afurika Shokoku ; Africa ) in Kyūshū with the Shimazu ,
- India Shokoku Rengō ( 印度 諸国 連 合 , Indo Shokoku Rengō ; India ) in Tōkai to Kantō with the Hōjō .
Kyokutō is the remnant of the once great state of Shinshū, which can no longer offer its citizens enough space.
The story itself begins in 1648 with the Testament Era on the flying city ship Musashi ( 武 蔵 ). Numerous displaced persons from Kyokutō have found refuge here and it is considered an independent territory, although it is allied with Kyokutō. The ship is constantly on the move, as the residents are only allowed short-term landings, for example to trade. They are under constant control by the Testament Union ( 聖 譜 連 盟 , Seifu Renmei , abbreviated as Seiren [ 聖 連 ]); an alliance of states that see themselves called to orientate themselves on historical events, which also plays a special role in political argumentation. At the same time, it is also a time when rumors of the impending Apocalypse spread after the Testament Union stopped reporting on the impending events of the old world, which are due to take place in 1648.
First, the Musashi Ariadust Gakuin ( 武 蔵 ア リ ア ダ ス ト 学院 ) is introduced. This is a school in Musashi, where the under-age can be trained and trained in combat training. This school is also attended by the protagonist of Kyōkai Senjō no Horizon , the somewhat idiosyncratic and always carefree student Tōri Aoi. During his school days, he got it into his head that he wanted to confess his love to Ariadust Horizon . There is one catch, however. Horizon died during his childhood. But he is convinced that the female android P-01s, which came to Musashi about a year earlier with no memory of her past, would be Horizon.
