László Kovács (cameraman)
László Kovács [ ˈlaːsloː ˈkovaːʧ ] (born May 14, 1933 in Cece , Hungary , † July 22, 2007 in Beverly Hills , California ) was a Hungarian-American cameraman .
Life
László Kovács studied between 1952 and 1956 at the Budapest Academy of Drama and Film ( Színház- és Filmművészeti Főiskola ), among others with György Illés . After filming the unrest there in the wake of the 1956 uprising , he fled with the material via Austria to the USA , where he was granted political asylum in 1957.
Before his breakthrough with Easy Rider in 1969, he worked as a cameraman for several television productions and low-budget films, some under the name Leslie Kovacs.
Kovács also worked as a photographer and staged as a director of three films.
