Lümatu (Lüganuse)

Lümatu is a village ( Estonian küla ) in Ida-Viru County ( East Wierland ) in northeast Estonia . Since October 2013 it has been in the rural community of Lüganuse ( Lüganuse vald ). Until its formation it was in the rural community of Maidla ( Maidla vald ).
The village has two inhabitants (as of 2000).
Lümatu was first mentioned in a document in 1492.
Sirtsi nature reserve
The heavily forested and sparsely populated landscape is an important settlement area for the brown bears native to Estonia . In 1976 the forest between the village and the Sirbi bog was declared a brown bear reserve. It is a total of 4525 hectares. In addition to bears, wolves, northern lynx and black storks are also native there.
