The Lüntenbeck is a 3.1 kilometer long stream in Wuppertal and is a tributary of the Wupper . The body of water lies largely in its flow in the Vohwinkel district .

The Lüntenbecker Bach tautology is often used for the name of the flowing water ( Beck is the Low German word for Bach).

course

The stream rises in the Saurenhaus location , in the Varresbeck residential area, which belongs to the Elberfeld-West district, on the border with the Lüntenbeck residential area of the same name in the Vohwinkel district . The source is located in a residential area, near the streets Gellertweg and Pahlkestraße at a height of 224 m, directly on the watershed to the river system of the Düssel . The first stretch, around 45 meters, of the stream runs above ground in a south-westerly direction until it is then piped for 110 meters.

Then it runs again for 140 meters above ground and then for 270 meters piped first to cross the federal motorway 535 (A 535) including the junction (Wuppertal- Dornap ) and then the federal highway 7 (B 7).

Lüntenbeck Castle

The brook continues through a forest area that formerly belonged to the Lüntenbeck House (called: “Lüntenbeck Castle”), the manor house was first mentioned in a document in the 13th century - but the origins of this settlement are appreciated. After around 500 meters, the Lüntenbeck turns south and the 350-meter long stream on the edge of the forest flows into the Lüntenbeck from the right. Here he reaches two ponds of the former Lüntenbeck moated castle. These ponds are the remains of a mill, the mill tower of the palace complex has been preserved. The Lüntenbeck then crosses the castle grounds in front of the main building for 110 meters and flows into a third pond south of the castle.

It then runs for around 260 meters through a park-like local recreation area that belongs to the Lüntenbeck settlement and then passes under the piped embankment of the disused Rhenish route .

For the last 1600 meters, the stream is piped to the mouth. It first follows Industriestrasse and then comes to the Sonnborner Kreuz motorway junction , where it flows into the Wupper as a right tributary at a height of 136 meters. The estuary is again in the Elberfeld-West district, in the Sonnborn residential area .
