The G 2x2 / 2 is a tender steam locomotive of the Mallet type, two of which were procured by the Landquart – Davos Railway in 1891.

history

The locomotives were manufactured by Maffei in Munich . The selling price is stated as 68,400 Swiss francs. The G 2x2 / 2 came into operation in 1891 as No. 6 & 7 at the Landquart – Davos Railway and were renumbered in 1895 to No. 21 & 22.

The locomotives were rebuilt on the occasion of a boiler change in 1910/11. They received a leading running axle, so they were adapted to the G 2/3 + 2/2 that were delivered last . The boiler pressure, however, remained at 12 atm . After their retirement in 1920, both locomotives were sold to the prospecting company Companhia de Mineração Santa Matilde Brazil.

In the same year 1920, Santa Matilde sold both locomotives to the Rede Sul Mineira de Viação (SM) railway company in the south of the state of Minas Gerais, where they were given the road numbers 241 (factory number 1613) and 242 ( Serial number 1614).

From 1937 to 1938 the locomotive 242 (serial number 1614) was converted in the SM workshops of Divinópolis, MG, into a type 2-4 + 4-0 locomotive with a tender. Your company number was changed from 242 to 330. In 1938, the SM carried out the same conversion work on locomotive 241 (serial number 1613) in Divinópolis and renumbered it from 241 to 331. The renovation work may not have been completed: in the 1940 RMV report, locomotive 331 is listed as decommissioned.

From 1938 to 1939 the SM was combined with the OM (Estrada de Ferro Oeste de Minas) and various smaller railway companies in the state of Minas Gerais to form the Mineira de Viação (RMV). In 1939 all affected locomotives were renumbered. Locomotive 330 (factory number 1614) was given the new road number 156 at RMV. But as early as 1941, RMV put it out of service.

Here, too, there is an indication that the conversion work on locomotive 331 (serial number 1613) could not have been completed; it does not appear in the RMV's new listing of company numbers, it is not even known whether its new RMV company number should be 155 or 157.

From 1944, both locomotives no longer appear in the RMV locomotive lists.
