LaQuan Prowell (born November 1, 1984 in Montgomery , Alabama ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Prowell plays as a professional in Europe. In Turkey beginning he then played in Greece and France , where he nearly 2½ seasons in the top two divisions of the Ligue Nationale de Basket played and was with Élan Chalon 2012 French champion. In the 2012/13 BBL season he played in the top German division and moved within Hesse from the 46ers in Gießen to the Skyliners in Frankfurt am Main .

Career

Prowell finished his school years in 2003 at Jordan High School in Columbus, Georgia , which borders Alabama , where he was born. He then received a scholarship from Furman University in Greenville (South Carolina) , one of the smallest universities in Division I of the NCAA in the Southern Conference . After two years, Prowell changed college, which he suspended according to the rules of the NCAA for a year of official championship games. He was then able to play for the Tigers at Auburn University from 2006 , where he continued his studies in his native state since 2005. In Prowell's two-year season for the Tigers, there were no significant successes in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

After completing his studies in 2008, Prowell became a professional in Europe and began his career in the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi at TED Kolejliler from the capital Ankara . However, the club won only two wins in 24 games before Prowell, along with his compatriots Erek Hansen and Marshall Strickland, left the team before the end of the season, and was relegated at the end of the season. For the following season, Prowell moved to France for the first time, where he played for the merger club and first division returnee Paris-Levallois Basket in the top division LNB Pro A. With 21 minutes of playing time per game, Prowell mostly came off the bench as a substitute. At the end of the season they reached the play-offs for the championship before defending champion ASVEL , but were eliminated in the first round against the later runner-up Le Mans Sarthe Basket . For the 2010/11 season Prowell went to the Greek A1 Ethniki to Ilisiakos from the capital Athens , who secured relegation at the end of the season with a win lead. However, Prowell had already left the club and returned to France.

In February 2011, Prowell's involvement with European capital city clubs ended and he signed a short-term contract in the second French league Pro B at ALM Basket in Évreux . After six games, he was brought up for the last three games of the season to Orléans Loiret Basket in the top division, which, however, missed the championship play-offs at the end of the season. For the 2011/12 season he went back to the Pro B at Basket Drôme in Saint-Vallier (Drôme) in the south of France . However, at the end of the season, they missed the play-offs for promotion to the top division. Prowell himself, however, took part in play-offs after he was signed for the championship final round for an injured colleague from the surprise team of Pro A from Chalon-sur-Saône . Élan Chalon continued his triumphant advance and also won the French championship after the league cup and cup final, only in the international EuroChallenge one had to accept a final defeat.

For the 2012/13 season Prowell was then signed by the German first division club Gießen 46ers. The founding member of the top division basketball Bundesliga was only able to secure the league by purchasing a " wild card " and took his sporting and financial problems with him into the new season. At the end of December, as bottom of the table, a further four points were deducted after the preliminary application to open insolvency proceedings, so that the first players like the post-signed Jasmin Perković left the club. At the end of January, Prowell and his compatriot Ryan Brooks followed , both of whom moved to regional rival and league competitor Fraport Skyliners from Frankfurt am Main , who also ranked in the top division's cellar. Prowell played here again with his teammate Quantez Robertson from college in Auburn. On the last day of the match they were able to secure relegation in a direct duel with the Neckar giants Ludwigsburg .

For the 2013/14 season moved Prowell to Italy Scavolini from Pesaro in the top flight Lega Basket Serie A . However, this contract was terminated before the start of the season.
