Labdia is a rich variety of species of butterflies from the family of cosmopterigidae (Cosmopterigidae).

features

The head of the butterfly is smoothly scaled. The antennae are 3/4 to 4/5 as long as the forewings. The labial palps are cylindrical and curved in an arc. The third segment is strongly curved upwards and often extends beyond the head. The forewings are narrow and lanceolate and provided with individually different drawings of lines and points. The hind wings are straight to lanceolate.

In the males, the brachia are of unequal length, mostly the right brachium is significantly longer. The blades are long and narrow. The valvellae are strongly asymmetrical, the left valvella is long and provided with finger-shaped extensions (digitat). The aedeagus is quite short and is covered by a very long tubular anellus. The 7th segment has elongated, rounded lobes .

In females, the Apophyses posteriores are one and a half times as long as the Apophyses posteriores. The sterigma is oval or elongated tubular. The ductus bursae is long and narrow. The corpus bursae is oval and has no sign.

distribution

The representatives of the genus Labdia are mainly native to the Orientalis and the Afrotropis .

biology

The caterpillars have been found on various plants; the majority presumably live on dead plant parts or detritus .

Systematics

The type species of the genus is Labdia deliciosella . The following list of species is based on the World catalog of cosmopterigid moths created by Sinev in 2002 and has been supplemented by other species from more recent work.
