Broad-leaved orchid ( Dactylorhiza majalis ) can be found in the meadows . The cuckoo's light carnation ( Lychnis flos-cuculi ) can also be found. In order to prevent the meadow landscape from becoming overgrown, Galloway cattle have grazed regularly for several years .

fauna

The numerous small bodies of water in the nature reserve are the habitat of the fire- bellied toad ( Bombina bombina ), the heraldic animal of the Barnim Nature Park, which is on the Brandenburg Red List and is threatened with extinction . Other amphibian species are native. Numerous endangered bird species and migrants use the Schäferpfühle as a breeding and resting place. The breeding white stork ( Ciconia ciconia ) in Ladeburg can be regularly seen foraging on the meadows in the summer months.
