Ladislav Karabin (born February 16, 1970 in Spišská Nová Ves , Czechoslovakia ) is a former US-American - Slovak ice hockey player who has spent six seasons in the German Ice Hockey League and one in the National Hockey League . He currently works as the manager of HK Spišská Nová Ves .
Career
Up to the age of 23, Ladislav Karabín played for his home club HC Slovan Bratislava . Three years earlier, the Pittsburgh Penguins pulled him in the ninth round in 173rd place in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft . In 1993 he moved to North America , where he played nine times in the best league in the world alongside greats like Jaromír Jágr . In 1996 Karabín, who was meanwhile also an American citizen, went back to Europe and played in Slovakia. Then he signed on with the Revierlöwen Oberhausen . After three years in the Ruhr area , the father of two daughters moved to Schwenninger Wild Wings . With them he got down despite victory in the play-downs against the Frankfurt Lions because the club no longer got a license. Then Karabin went to the EHC Wolfsburg . In the first year in the Autostadt, the DEL promotion succeeded, but the Grizzlys did not receive a license for the new 2005/06 season either , so the striker, whose best coach was Gunnar Leidborg , joined the Iserlohn Roosters. In the early stages of the season in Iserlohn, Karabin suffered the fourth concussion of his career, causing him to be out for a long time. Since mid-November 2005 he was back on the ice. His contract in Iserlohn was not renewed, as a result of which he ended his career after the season.
Since the end of his career he has been working as the manager of HK Spišská Nová Ves .
