Ladislav Rygl (born July 16, 1947 in Polubný ) is a former Czechoslovak world champion in Nordic combined .

Career

Rygl started singles at the Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble in 1968 and reached 16th place. After jumping he was still 18th, but was able to make up a few places with a good performance. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1970 in Vysoké Tatry , Rygl won the individual world championship title ahead of Nikolai Nogowizyn and Vyacheslav Drjagin .

At the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo , Japan , he missed the leap into the top of the world. In the individual he reached the 26th place.

After the end of his active career he worked as a trainer in Tanvald. He was the co-founder and trainer of the Vrchlabí Sports Center . For a while he was in charge of the Czechoslovak junior team . After the center was taken over by the CTSV, Rygl went to Switzerland as a trainer . There he took over the training of the B national squad for five years before he went back to Liberec to work as a coach at the local club Dukla Liberec. After the break-up of Czechoslovakia, Rygl took over the position of national coach in the Czech Republic . After he retired, he took over training in the family and is still actively training his grandchildren today.

His son of the same name, Ladislav , also played this sport at world level.
