The Lady-I-Class is a coaster class of the Spliethoff belonging group shipping company Wijnne Barends in Delfzijl . The three ships of the class were built at the Niestern Sander shipyard in Delfzijl. The type of ship from the shipyard as "HCC 4000" ( H igh C UBIC C ontainer 4000), sometimes only "High Cubic 4000" is referred to, based on the constructed previously also for Wijnne barends type of ship " HCC 3000 was" and like this one specially designed for the transport of forest products like parcel wood.
description
The drive of the vessels is carried out by a four-stroke - eight-cylinder - diesel engine of the manufacturer Caterpillar (type: 3608) with 2,460 kW power . The motor acts on a controllable pitch propeller via a gearbox . The ships are equipped with an electrically powered bow thruster .
For power generation there is a diesel generator set with a Caterpillar diesel engine (type: 3306) with 160 kW power, which drives a generator with 200 kVA apparent power , and a diesel generator set with a Caterpillar diesel generator (type: 3406) with 250 kW power, one Drives generator with 315 kVA apparent power. While the first diesel generator is used to power the on-board network, the second is primarily used to drive the bow thruster. In addition, the ships are equipped with a further generator set with a Caterpillar diesel generator (type: 3306) with 160 kW power, which drives a generator with 200 kVA apparent power, which serves as a harbor and emergency generator.
The deckhouse is in the rear of the ships. It offers space for nine crew members on four decks , who are accommodated in individual cabins. In front of the deckhouse is a box-shaped cargo space that is closed with hydraulically operated hatch covers consisting of eight segments . The room is 57.20 meters long, 12.00 meters wide and 10.70 meters deep. The space tapers slightly in the front and rear. The tank top can be loaded with 15 t / m².
The upper part of the room is divided by a stiffener, a so-called “Strongbeam”. The "Strongbeam" ends 5 meters above the floor of the hold. The room below the “Strongbeam” is continuous. The space in front of the "Strongbeam" is 25.35 meters long and behind the "Strongbeam" is 31.85 meters long.
The ships were initially built with an intermediate deck. The intermediate deck consisted of nine panels with which the rear part of the hold (from the “Strongbeam”) could be divided horizontally. The panels of the intermediate deck could also be used in four positions as a bulkhead to divide the cargo space vertically.
The ships were equipped with a gantry crane that could be moved over the entire length of the hatch. The crane, which could lift 20 t, was later removed.
The ships are prepared for the transport of containers . The total capacity is 172 TEU . Nine 20-foot containers can be stowed one behind the other as well as four next to each other and four on top of each other. In the areas where the space tapers, three containers fit side by side, so that a total of 136 20-foot containers can be accommodated in the room. Additional containers can be loaded on deck.
The hull of the ships is reinforced with ice ( ice class 1A).
