history

Overview map 3 for the western districts of Schleusegrund

The village was first mentioned on January 20, 1526 after a glassmaker from Swabia, probably Hans Greiner's father , founded the Langenbach glassworks in 1525 . The glassworks was operated with a sovereign license outside the guild regulations and was thus the starting point for later glass production in the Thuringian Forest . The glassworks in Fehrenbach (1564) and Lauscha (1597) were founded in Langenbach . In 1589 the Langenbacher Glashütte stopped production.

Until 1815, the place belonged to the Henneberg or Electoral Saxon office Schleusingen and then came to the Schleusingen district of the newly formed Prussian province of Saxony , where it remained until 1945. There was a cooper in the village . Today the place is still dominated by agriculture. In 1999 the village renewal program began.
