Langschlag is a village and a cadastral municipality in the Grafenschlag municipality in the Zwettl district in Lower Austria . The place is about 760 meters above sea level south of Grafenschlag west of the federal highway Grafenschlag-Lugendorf am Langschlägerbach .
It was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1321 as "Langeslage". The name indicates a wide-spread forest felling. It originally belonged to the rule of Pöggstall , then came to the rule of Ottenschlag and finally to the rule of Rapottenstein . After 1850 the place was part of the municipality of Lugendorf , after its incorporation on January 1st, 1968 it became a part of Sallingberg and on January 1st, 1970 through reunification it became part of the municipality of Grafenschlag. It belonged to the Sallingberg parish until January 1, 1936, and by then already came to the Grafenschlag parish.
In 1906 the village received a stop on the Schwarzenau – Martinsberg – Gutenbrunn railway line .
